MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE:

TURNING PAIN INTO ART SINCE 1909.

The Bona Fide Blues Festival

Listen. Do you hear it? That pulsing thump like a kickdrum. Locked in to your rhythm. Your life. It’s the blues. Growling like a tube amp. Howling songs of sorrow and salvation. Triumph and tribulation. Memphis is the crossroads of the United States. Midtown is the center of Memphis. Your heart is the intersection of love and logic, bad bets and sure things. Your heart was born to sing. And that song is Bona Fide.

Bona Fide = ADJECTIVE, Genuine; real.

Synonyms: authentic, certifiable, certified, genuine, honest, real, right, sure-enough, true, Sho’nuff (American South)

“A signal boost for the local sound.”

A passion project of the Memphis Blues Society, the festival features 100% working blues musicians from a 100-mile radius of Memphis, TN. No exceptions. This is a festival about Memphis’ incredible musical talent. It’s about exposing our city’s musicians to new audiences. It’s about paying them a decent wage. And recognizing these incredible talents for furthering Memphis’ best-known iconic cultural art form: the Blues.

THE BLUES ISN’T JUST ALIVE IN MEMPHIS—
IT’S ACHING TO BE HEARD.

It’s only fitting that a completely new, one-of-a-kind blues festival like Bona Fide takes place in an area like Overton Square. Newly revitalized and surrounded by Midtown neighborhoods, it is the fastest growing entertainment district in Memphis, featuring the best in shopping, dining and nightlife. It’s not only the perfect place to spend a weekend, it’s the perfect place to bring Blues to a new generation of appreciative Memphians.
